Two bodies found in Sussex sea after abandoned dinghy sparks huge search

Two bodies have sadly been found in the sea in Sussex after an abandoned dinghy sparked a huge search along the coast.

The green dinghy was found floating off Lancing in West Sussex at around 2pm yesterday (August 10). The RNLI was joined by the Coastguard in a nine-hour search along the coast and a body was sadly found in Hove in the ‘late afternoon’. Search teams from Brighton, Shoreham and Newhaven, joined by the Coastguard helicopter, returned to the seas around Hove and Lancing early this morning and a second body was recovered from the water at around 10am. The abandoned dinghy was found to have clothing and a shopping trolley inside. Police confirmed it was not thought to be linked to asylum seekers. The incident is in the hands of Sussex Police, according to the RNLI. Police have been approached for more information.
