RAIL services are now running following a fatality at Emsworth station this morning.
British Transport Police confirmed a man died after being hit by a train at Emsworth around 11am this morning (May 3). He has not yet been identified.
Lines have now reopened, though some services may be subject to delays between Chichester and Havant.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police (BTP) said: “BTP officers were called to the line close to Emsworth Railway Station, Hampshire on May 3, after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and Hampshire Police attended the incident, which is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Medics also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
Rail services were subject to lengthy delays and cancellations, with replacement bus services in place.
National Rail said: “Lines have reopened between Chichester and Havant after a person was hit by a train at Emsworth. Train services are returning to normal, however residual delays of up to 30 minutes are expected until 4pm.
“Buses will continue to run between Chichester and Havant to supplement the train service.”
