A 24 year old woman has been airlifted to hospital in Southampton with serious ‘potentially life-changing injuries’ following a crash on the A272 at Durleighmarsh this morning (Wednesday, February 10)

A police spokesman said the A272 was likely to be closed until lunchtime following the accident.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.14am after reports that a car and a school bus, carrying pupils to Churcher’s College at Petersfield, had been in collision.

Firefighters using specialist equipment cut the woman, who had been driving the car, out of her vehicle.

The spokesman said: “There were passengers on the coach, including children, but there are no reports of injuries to anyone else.

“The road is closed to eastbound traffic and is likely to remain so until around 1pm. However, westbound traffic is now able to pass the scene.”

Any witnesses are asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 427 of 10/02.
