UPDATE: Woman taken to hospital after Slindon fire

A woman who was in her Slindon home when it caught fire has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

The blaze broke out in the property in School Hill at just after 9am this morning, Tuesday, April 19.

Six crews battled the fire for several hours before leaving the scene at 1.07pm this afternoon.

A bedroom where the fire started has been completely destroyed, while the roof suffered 20 per cent damage, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service reported.

The cause is not yet known. Fire investigation officers are due to return to the house later today.
