BUTTERFLY sculptures revealed today (November 15) have transformed Chichester Canal Basin.
Using regeneration as his central theme, artist Steve Tomlinson has designed four butterfly sculptures which have wings bursting with recognisable features from the city.
The Canal Basin Liaison Group with Chichester District Council and West Sussex County Council has overseen the project, which was funded by £25,000 of section 106 money, with additional £20,000 from West Sussex County Council to create a trail and a bench.
Mayor Alan Chaplin said the work was ‘brilliant’ as he cut the ribbons at the unveiling.
Students from Chichester High School for girls were also present at the event – as they had worked with the artist on the designs.
An exhibition has been set up at Chichester Canal Basin showing the stages of the design and implementation process.
