MORE than 1,300 men have so far come forward to give DNA samples since police investigating the murder of Valerie Graves launched the mass screening last month.
Sessions are being held at the Millstream Hotel in Bosham and mobile testing units have also been visiting local areas as men with a link to the village are being urged to come forward.
Today, Thursday February 5, the mobile screening has been operating outside the main entrance to Chichester College, asking students who live, work or visited Bosham over Christmas 2013 to provide a voluntary sample.
On Tuesday, Observer reporter Chris Shimwell went along to Tesco Extra, Fishbourne, to give a voluntary sample. You can watch a video of how the simple testing is being done above.
Officers are assuring people the samples taken will only be used in connection with this case and will be destroyed afterwards.
Detective sergeant Duncan Elliott said: “We’ve had a great response from the local community, but we need more people to come forward.
“We are getting closer and we believe we will catch the killer, but this is one way to get there quicker.”
