AN ELECTRICAL fault is believed to have caused the fire at the Beach Café in West Wittering this morning (October 22).
Around 20 fire fighters converged on the café after the fire started around 8am in the roof area.
Speaking at the scene, the incident commander Marvin Smith said: “There’s a fair amount of damage in the kitchen area. It’s spread very quickly.”
The flames were extinguished quite quickly before the fire could spread all through the building.
The alarm was raised after the smoke alarm went off and someone came to check the café and dialled 999.
Firefighters had to force their way into the building on the West Wittering Estate.
