FOR THE first time in Chichester’s history, humanists laid a wreath at the city’s war memorial.
The Chichester Humanists laid a wreath in honour of all those who have lost their lives in conflict.
Andrew Edmondson, from the group, said it would not have been appropriate for the group to take part in the religious ceremony held at 11am. Instead, the group laid its wreath at 12.15pm.
He said the group was invited by Chichester City Council and it was about ensuring all were represented on Remembrance Sunday.
The idea is to make it inclusive,” he said.
As the wreath was laid, Mr Edmondson gave a short speech, which can be viewed in the above video.
