A FIRE caused the B2201 at Sidlesham to shut this morning after a blaze at a tyre warehouse.
Fire crews were called to a warehouse in Sidlesham at midnight last night (May 6), and 40 per cent of the building was destroyed by fire.
The building stored around 100 tyres, and was used as a workshop and tyre store.
Police attended and closed the road this morning which caused traffic chaos for motorists using the route from Selsey to Chichester.
The fire crews have left the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
UPDATE: The proprietor of the Car Tyre Service, Nigel Dutton said: “We are still trading. It is the warehouse next door to us which was on fire, but we are open for business as usual.”
