Crowds descended on Emsworth Town Square to catch an eagerly-awaited glimpse of the troops from Thorney Island’s 12 Regiment and 47 Regiment Royal Artilery, who were joined by Korean War veterans during this morning’s (April 23) event.

This year marked the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, with a whole host of war veterans marching during the prestigious event, who were presented with red roses by Commanding Officer Nick Sawyer for their service.

Mayor of Havant, Gerald Shimbart, said: “It’s a lovely day, it is somewhat better than last year. It is lovely to see so many people here and the bands playing. It is wonderful to see, we have got people here from care homes and youngsters from local Glenwood School. It encompasses everybody and everybody is so proud of the two regiments and also the connection with Thorney Island and the 60th anniversary.”
