THOUSANDS of people turned out to cheer on cyclists in the Tour of Britain on Saturday (August 13).
In the Observer area, crowds turned out in Kingsley Green, Fernhurst, Easebourne, Tillington, Petworth and Wisborough Green to cheer on riders, including Bradley Wiggins.
After passing through the Observer area, the tour continued through towns including Horsham and Uckfield before the finish at Brighton.
A dramatic finish to the final stage saw Giant Shimano’s Marcel Kittel edge the stage victory in a sprint finish, just ahead of Mark Cavendish of Omega Pharma-Quick Step with Nicola Ruffoni of Bardiani CSF in third place.
Our photographers were in Petworth on the day so pick up a copy of this week’s Midhurst and Petworth Observer (Thursday, September 18) edition for a picture special and more news from the day.
