CHILDREN sang along as Michael Servant beat the world record – playing the organ for 40 hours and 36 minutes.
He’s been playing since Tuesday night, at 10.23pm, and broke the record at 3pm today (November 26), at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in West Wittering Church.
He will continue playing until 7.30pm tonight, but children from West Wittering Primary School helped him break the record by singing along to the hymns this afternoon, and cheering him on when he hit the world record.
Mr Servant, who has broken the record twice before, said: “I’m astonished that yet again I have managed to get through it.”
The world-record attempt is also raising money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and a school in Sierra Leone.
See next week’s Observer for a full report and pictures of the special event.
