Visit Chichester to reveal plans for the future

Exciting new plans for Chichester are set to be unveiled at a meeting next week.

Andrew Clegg, who took over as chairman of Visit Chichester in June, will be unveiling plans for a significant reboot of the Visit Chichester website.

The organisation, which aims to boost tourism in the area, will be holding a meeting at 2.30pm on September 26 at Chichester Yacht Club, focused at reinforcing Chichester’s status as a premier destination on the south coast.

Dr Clegg, who has worked on the plans all through the summer and is also programme co-ordinator for tourism management at the University of Chichester, said he understands the challenges and opportunities facing the tourism sector across the district.

He has more than twenty years experience of working with the tourism industry.

He said: “The meeting is an opportunity to outline the very exciting and ambitious plans we have for the Visit Chichester website.

We are quite simply looking at a significant reboot of the website, both in terms of look and structure, with a more contemporary feel and much greater emphasis on distinguishing between the city, coast and country – a key differentiator for the district, which I believe we need to take greater advantage of.

“The aim is to provide visitors with more information about the Chichester district, and provide a more user-friendly platform from which to effectively promote the fantastic tourism and business that we have locally.”

Tourism businesses in the area are welcome to attend the meeting to find out more about the planned changes.

Dr Clegg added: “I am very excited about the plans for the website, and I look forward to sharing our ideas with as many tourism businesses that are able to attend. They are the key players in ensuring the successful future for tourism in the District.”
