Wakehurst’s plant collection boasts bright colours

A botanic garden at Wakehurst Place has been transformed with a plant’s bright berries.

“Our collection of Skimmia is a beautiful addition to the gardens”, said gardens manager Dr Chris Clennett.

“With domed evergreen shrubs bearing fragrant small flowers in spring and winter’s bright array of red berries.

“There are separate male and female plants in this genus, so we need both to produce the wonderful displays of berries the females bear at this time of year.”
