A consultation on the Neighbourhood Plan will close on December 7, with questionnaires distributed to villagers.

The results will be collated and the plan developed next year before it is ratified in a referendum.

David Galloway, chairman of the steering committee said: “At present there is no requirement to build new homes but given the Government’s ambition to build many more houses we want to be prepared and have a clear plan about any future development.

“The benefit of an agreed plan is that it has legal force.”

Richard Shrubb Chairman of the West Wittering Parish Council said he was ‘delighted’ at the response so far.

He said: “It’s really important everyone has their say. If you haven’t filled in your questionnaire please do so as soon as possible.”
