Woman bitten by dog in Emsworth

POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was bitten by a dog in Emsworth.

A 20-year-old woman was walking her dog, when she was bitten by a Dalmatian in Russet Gardens, Emsworth.

Police are trying to trace the owner of the dog which was off its leash at the time. He was walking with his Dalmatian, which he said was a rescue dog and only recently acquired, when it became aggressive and bit the woman’s hand as she lifted her dog.

The deep cut required hospital treatment.

The incident happened at about 2.30pm on Thursday, January 9.

PC Matthew Snelson said: “The man, who had a young girl with him, apologised for his dog’s behaviour however he did not leave any details. We would appeal for him to contact us.

“The man is described as white, in his 60s, stocky, with short grey hair. He was wearing a Barbour-style jacket. If you know him or recognise him please can you contact police so we can discuss the matter with him.”
