Woman detained after Chichester railway trespass

A WOMAN has been detained by police after reports she was trespassing on the railway line at Chichester.

The incident caused delays to train services this morning (July 10), as the line was shut down in both directions.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “Officers were called to reports of a person trespassing on the rail line close to Whyke Road level crossing, Chichester, on Thursday, 10 July.

“BTP and Sussex Police officers attended the location and a 33-year-old woman was detained under the Mental Health Act.

“The incident was first reported at 10.14am and the line was cleared by 10.48am.”
