SUSSEX Police are seeking witnesses to a robbery where two women threatened to stab and assault a couple and stole one of their phones.

The incident occurred at 5.45pm on Sunday, October 26 under the A27 bridge on the Chichester canal pathway.

As the couple walked along the pathway they were approached by two women, who stood in front and behind them demanding their phones and money, police said.

They took one phone but were disturbed by a jogger and began to run away, chased by one of the victims who called the police and managed to get his phone back.

From local enquiries three possible witnesses have been identified, including the jogger and a man and woman cycling along the river, who spoke with one of the victims.

An 18-year-old woman from Chichester has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed until November 26, while further enquiries take place.
