POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a large sheet of wood fell from a lorry in Hunston and damaged a car behind it.

The windscreen of a car was smashed by the wood on Wednesday afternoon (September 10).

An 8’ x 4’ sheet of wood came off the truck, which was heading for Selsey, on the B2145 around 6pm.

The driver of the car, which also suffered a badly dented roof, was uninjured and managed to pull up near the entrance to Tennessee Farm.

The lorry, described as having a white cab and an open back containing more wood, did not stop, leaving the road covered in glass and splintered wood.

Witnesses should call Sussex Police on 101 with the reference 1287 of 10/09.
