Columnist deliberately inciting students

Do we miss Keith Newbery already? I do for one.

I find Colin Channon’s choice of ‘guest columnist’ (Observer, April 18) very strange and possibly deliberately controversial.

If there isn’t a law against inciting students to march on London, occupy council chambers and to cause havoc in our high streets, then there should be one.

Christopher Joyce should be aware areas of Chichester have been blighted by the behaviour of university and college students in recent years, particularly since the growth of student numbers when Bishop Otter College became a university.

The fact these students are, hopefully, concentrating on their studies is a good thing. We do not need some idiot to encourage them to do otherwise.
