We recognise that parents will be anxious about the future of the residential short breaks service (Holly Lodge and the Cherries) which Sussex Community NHS Trust is currently commissioned to provide for children with complex health needs and disabilities in West Sussex.
Our commissioners, NHS Sussex, are looking at options to re-design children’s community nursing services in West Sussex and this is likely to affect the residential short breaks service they might commission in the future.
When NHS Sussex consults on the provision of this service in the coming months we will be involved in the consultation process as a provider stakeholder.
In the meantime, we are working hard to keep parents and families using our residential short breaks service up-to-date on the existing service and about how they can contribute to the NHS Sussex consultation process as further information becomes available.
We remain committed to delivering a safe, effective and consistent service for children with complex needs in our community and will play our part in the forthcoming consultation process.
