The accident involving a car and a tractor which led to the death of Portsmouth motorist must be a wake-up call to the Highway department of WSCC to obtain government funding for a new road to Selsey.
How many more people will be killed on this road before action is taken?
I understand an bypass road was proposed by WSCC Highways in the 1990s and rejected by Sidlesham residents.
Subsequent council highways managers have described the B2145 as an ‘ancient track way’ not suitable for the current traffic load to Selsey.
I do urge those with business interests on the Manhood to lobby their elected representatives to build a new road.
This would help to attract new jobs to the area and retain those already there.
