In concentrating solely on the five A27 options available, are we missing a rather important point?
When Chichester District Council submitted its housing proposals to the inspector last year they stated they were unable to meet the Objective Assessed Need, due to constraints imposed by the A27. This constraint was accepted by the inspector, and the annual number of new homes fixed at 435/year.
While we are now presented with five sows ears, CDC have been quietly working away on a housing development update to our Local Plan. My fear is if any one of these A27 proposals is chosen, we will immediately be presented with a development plan whose starting point will be similar or even above that which was being proposed back in 2012, ie anything between 570 and 750 homes per year.
