After a prolonged and expensive period of planning, there is now to be a prolonged and expensive post hoc series of consultations. What are they for?
If they are to gather information about journey patterns of everyone in the area who uses or crosses the A27, then this should surely have been done as part of the process of designing potential schemes.
If they are effectively a referendum on which of the suggested schemes is the least awful (for all the options are awful for the population of the Manhood Peninsula), how will this be democratically monitored?
Or might new schemes emerge in the light of information which should have been known beforehand.
Or might ideas be proposed not thought of by the planners or, as in the case of a Northern bypass, previously rejected by them for unconvincing reasons.
Will these then be subject to consultation?
