I WALK into the centre of Westbourne on most days to shop.
Since a speed limit of 20mph was imposed in July, there has been no noticeable reduction in the speed of the traffic passing through Westbourne. Even before the imposition of the 20mph limit, much of the traffic was obviously exceeding the 30mph limit; particularly dangerous where there is only one narrow pavement opposite Westbourne Church.
So why did the authorities waste money by believing that just the erection of a few road signs would have the necessary impact?
After all, there is not the slightest chance of any driver facing a speeding prosecution, as the police would seem to have no intention in ever enforcing this speed limit.
