Over-the-top health and safety shows a lack of common sense

I agree with Helen Pine (Observer, July 11), health and safety has become ridiculous.

We need to be encouraging people to use their common sense and be responsible for themselves. What is this doing to our children and young people? They will be unable to assess danger and take sensible precautions because they are so over-protected.

Thank you, Helen, for making me chuckle not just when I read the article, but for the rest of the afternoon I smiled again at the thought of the jumping on a bandwagon course and falling on the custard until she had her Spillbox!
