Park needs facelift

WHAT now for Priory Park? At a recent parks meeting it was reported that the application for Heritage Lottery funding for the long overdue and much-needed repair and proposed conversion works of the cricket clubhouse to form a café and the replacement of the pavilion and railings, has been rejected and we are now back to square one!

This game of Snakes and Ladders and all the talk has been going on far too long. Will the district council now face up to its responsibilities and remove these eyesores from this prominent and wonderful inner-city conservation area?

Every responsible property owner knows of the need to carry out routine maintenance and rehabilitation or replacement when needed.

The council are the owners of the park and all it contains, and it is time to be independent of vague outside financial sources and dig into capital reserves to finance these long outstanding schemes.
