Remembering scroll

ARE THERE any Girl Guides in Chichester who remember the Scroll of Friendship being taken around the country on foot, bicycle, boat, pony etc? My sister, a Brownie,

and I, a Guide, were taken by car (a real treat) by Miss Greenhill, a Brownie leader, to pass this on to Guides at West Ashling.

A photograph was taken of us by the press and put into the local paper, with a write-up headed ‘The Nash Twins’. This caused a great laugh in our home because we were sisters. We never had a photograph – no money, we were a large family. I would love that picture for a ‘snippet of life’ booklet I am writing for my family.

Unfortunately I don’t know the date or year. I’ve tried the West Sussex Record Office and the library without success. I was with the 3rd Chichester Guide Company as Barbara S Nash.
