Police arrest man, 19, after dogs reported stolen in Sussex

A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft after two dogs were reported stolen in Sussex last week.

Police say that the 19-year-old man was detained yesterday (Tuesday) and is currently in custody

The two English Springer Spaniel dogs were reported to have been taken from Blanches Walk in Partridge Green on Thursday (March 11).

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who has any information which can help our investigation is asked to report online or ring 101 quoting serial 375 of 12/03.”

The arrest follows a pledge from Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne to crack down on dog thefts after a survey showed a shocking rise in incidents.

The survey revealed more than three-quarters of dog owners have become more wary of walking their dogs during the day for fear of theft.
