Air cadets pool their resources to land swim titles

AIR cadets from Chichester shone at a regional swimming championships.

The youngsters from 461 (Chichester) Sqaudron Air Training Corps competed in the annual Sussex wing championships at the Olympic-sized pool in Haywards Heath.

They competed against 23 other squadrons with about 250 other cadets present.

They won the senior girls' title and the overall team title and now go on to the region finals in London in October.

The successful team comprised Ryan Ellis, Tom Seller, Chris Burgess, Philip Payne, Jamie Smith, Charlotte Brassfield, Sophie Trotter, Lizzie Thoms and Vicky Sainsbury.

The squadron compete in a number of sporting events throughout the year as well as other activities like flying, gliding, shooting and camping.

They welcome new members and parade on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7pm to 9.30pm at East Row, Chichester.
