Alan is King at Fontwell ... now for Royal Wedding

The pair had success in the Butlins conference and Events Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the start of the seven-race card with 4/6 favourite American Ladie.

And they repeated the trick with Devil To Pay, which came in 5/2 favourite in the Mary Brosnan Handicap Hurdle.

They were among the favourites in the first five races who all came home the winner, with a joint favourite taking the sixth race.

There was a win for the McCain family 24 hours before their Grand National triumph with Ballabriggs. Their charge Alderley Rover took the honours in the Peter Boughton Memorial Novices’ Steeple Chase.

And Sussex rider Joshau Moore was first past the post on River Indus in the Horses For Forces London Marathon Handicap Steeple Chase.

Fontwell stages its next jumps meeting next Tuesday, starting at 2pm, before one of its biggest dates of the year – its Royal Wedding Raceday on the evening of Friday, April 29, after Prince William and Kate Middleton have tied the knot.

And Fontwell Park will play host to Royal Wedding on the big day – not the ceremonials involving William and Kate, but a racehorse of the same name.

Findon trainer Nick Gifford has agreed to run the aptly-named horse when the track stages its wedding-day meeting.

Royal Wedding has previously won at a couple of meetings at Fontwell – and he’ll be well-backed this time.
