After a quick exchange of baskets, Amazons soon went on to control the game and had a run of unanswered scores.

A three-pointer from Thunder gave them a much-needed boost but Amazons finished the quarter with a well earned 20-10 lead.

Amazons found things a little more tricky in the second quarter, with Thunder storming back.

Bognor fought to try and cover more of Thunder’s outside shooting. However, Thunder fell into foul trouble after five minutes which allowed Amazons to sneak a few more points on the board before ending the half 32-21 up.

Amazons came back strong in the second half to try to push their lead even further. Strong drives from Lucy Uncles brought Amazons both points under the basket, as well as putting her on the free throw line.

Thunder answered with two more three-pointers, capitalising on Amazons narrow zone defence. Despite that late surge of points, Amazons lead 50-31 heading into the final quarter.

A change in Bognor’s defence allowed them to push out more to Thunder’s outside shooters, giving them much fewer opportunities to score.

All the while, Amazons kept pushing their offence with both fast breaks and drives to the basket, which forced Thunder on to team fouls, giving Amazons some easy points.

Both sides kept pushing to the last whistle, but it was Amazons who came out on top with an impressive 69-38 win.
