Banquet's in for a feast at Goodwood

The all-weather did not agree with State Banquet last time out but a return to the lush grass of Goodwood can bring about the best in Hughie Morrison's runner.

He lines up in the Piper Champagne Stakes after a disappointing recent run on Kempton's Polytrack.

State Banquet was a well-below par fifth on that occasion and at a conservative estimate the son of Fusaichi Pegasus is 10lb superior on grass.

He was second behind Classic Vintage in a class two handicap at this course in late July and a replication of that form will be more than enough to secure victory.

Earlier on the card Exceedthewildman should have the measure of his rivals in the Electrolux Professional EBF Maiden Stakes.

Bred for stamina rather than speed, the juvenile was third in a six-furlong maiden at new Welsh track Ffos Lass earlier this month.

That was somewhat surprising given the distance did not suit and certainly demonstrated Stan Moore's charge has enough ability to win a race at this level.

He should improve for the experience and stepping up to this seven-furlong trip can only aid his chances.

Point Of Light has an amazing recent record, having won six races on the bounce. Here he goes for a seventh straight win in the 4.55pm

Twice Over has been contesting group one races this season and he should take plenty of beating in the feature race at 3.45pm, although he will be up against Fanjura, who won three on the spin earlier this year.

Notable jockeys due at the meeting include champion jockey Ryan Moore, Richard Hills, Richard Hughes and Champion female Hayley Turner.
