Bognor darts aces pair up for titles

There was an excellent turnout with 84 players taking part, great when you consider there are fewer teams in the league this year.

Division three saw 14 pairs take to the oche.

Martin Connelly and Lewis Kalli (QEII) lost in one semi-final to team-mates Dave Juniper and Steve Jenkins. The second semi-final saw Caz Taylor (Richmond Rebels) and Monica Roberts (Richmond ‘B’) bow out to Ian Dendy and Bob Twaites (POW Galleon).

In the final Dendy won the bullseye for the first throw, but neither team scored well. Jenkins hit a large score, but Dendy and Twaites to catch up and hit the double for the first leg.

The second leg saw two large scores from Dendy and Twaites left with a double. Twaites found it, giving him and Dendy the title.

In division two, 12 pairs stepped up. The first semi-final saw Adam Hall and Alex Richardson (Aldingbourne Mavericks) beat Dave Wingate and James Riggs (Friary D).

The second semi brought a win for Rob Rice and John Luff (Chi Snooker A) over Alex Norgett and Lewis Campling (Newtown Amity).

The final began with Hall winning the bullseye and start with a great 140, followed by Richardson with 100 and 97. They went on to take the first leg. Leg two was closer and Rice clinched it, taking the final to a deciding leg.

Hall started leg three with another ton and ended up with a chance at double top, which he hit with his first dart to take the title of division-two pairs champions.

In division one, there were 16 pairs on the oche. Last year’s champions Hayley Gatford and Andy Stubbs (Hunston Hares) lost in the semi-finals to Rob Collins and Micky Rowland (POW ‘Z’).

The second semi-final saw Lee Franklin and Wayne Wadsworth (POW ‘Z’) defeat Buster Barton and Richard Ragless (Squash Club).

The division-one final saw Franklin win the bullseye, but Franklin and Wadsworth struggled.

Rowland’s double eight clinched the first leg in 16 darts. The second leg ended when Collins was left with six. Collins took three darts, but hit the double for a 21-dart leg and the title of division-one pairs champions.

Best game in week 11 was played by Jack Danahar (Claremont Sambas) with 18 and 23 darts and a 24.44 average.
