Bognor swimmers’ turn in five-star show at counties

Bognor Swimming Club had five members competing at the Sussex Winter County Championships.

They were held over two weekends and the swimmers notched some amazing times.

Amber Macrae (12) swam 50m and 200m butterfly with PBs in both events while Alys Turner (13) swam 50 fly and 100 fly but had to withdraw from the 200 fly and the 50m freestyle through injury.

Katie White (10) performed well with PBs in all events, winning 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke and earning second place in 100 breaststroke and freestyle.

Even though she attended only one day out of the two, Katie came sixth in her age group overall, an amazing achievement.

Abbie Turner, coming back from injury, performed well with a first in the 400 freestyle, second in 200m freestyle and backstroke and third in 200m butterfly.

The star of the show was Tom Hogg (12) who had an amazing two days with PBs in all his events including second place in 200m IM and backstroke and third in 100 butterfly and backstroke. In a very strong field of boys, Tom was second overall.

t was a great end to the championship especially as it was head coach Chris Adams’ last competition. He has now retired.

Swimmers, parents and coaches want to thank Chris for all his hard work and look forward to working with their new head coach Sue Cameron.
