Booth out to box clever at York Hall

ST GERARDS Boxing Club's Ellis Booth will box at the famous York Hall in Bethnall Green this Sunday.

She will be one of a number of boxers hoping to strap on their winning championship belts.

Chichester ace Booth will box for the vacant English bantamweight title boxing at the 54kg category (8st 7lb). She faces an opponent from the famous Repton club so will be up against another well-supported local boxer.

But St Gerards coaches say she performs well under adversity and has trained hard for this great opportunity.

Coach Gerry Lavelle said: “All the hard work is done now – it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster as her first opponent pulled out when she sustained an injury, then we didnt think we were on.

“We kept up the hard graft and now we have had the good news the contest is on. Ellis has been pushing her boundaries and pushing beyond her comfort line so all should be well with the additional speed and power she has been exuding in sparring and on the mitts.

“She has the real belief now that come Sunday, she will have the English bantamweight belt round her waist and I fully support that belief.”

Boxing starts at 6pm with Booth on early. You can contact the York Hall for tickets –St Gerards would appreciate all the support thry can gather.

Meanwhile, St Gerards’ big dinner show takes place on Saturday, February 20 at Chichester College. Only a number of standing tickets remain on sale as all the tables have sold out.

Standing tickets cost £15 to include food and you can sit throughout the contests. No tickets will be available on the night.
