Junior Holly Heffron and senior Ellis Booth were joined by senior female Shona Padfey from Bognor’s Ockley Boxing Club in the South of England squad’s training session ahead of their match against the London Diamonds.

St Gerards coach Jon Mills said: “It’s fantastic for all the girls involved and it’s nice to have two local boxing clubs supporting each other mentally and physically against the London Diamonds.

“It’s a very big turnout with 19 planned contests on the day and the girls have all been training extremely hard for this big opportunity, one of the biggest female shows to date in London.”

Coach Gareth Ferguson said: “This could be the start of something much bigger and the girls have the opportunity on the big stage to prosper. The show is being televised by LondonLive TV and that doesn’t happen very often in amateur boxing, so the girls have everything to gain on this platform.”

All the southern fighters have London opponents and have been matched fairly.

The West Sussex trio are all really looking forward to being part of the team and hope to put Chichester and Bognor on the map with their perfprmances.
