Eleven-year-old Rowles wasn’t at his best and allowed Marshall to outpunch him. His two-handed combinations and overhand right hands were not evident, so it was a formality that Marshall’s arm was raised as winner.

Next in the ring was 17-year-old Hasnen Akhtar, who took the contest to his opponent Reece Hornblow throughout the bout with straight punches to the head and body for all three rounds.

Akhtar caught Hornblow with his punches in all three rounds to win on a wide points decision.

Last in action was Yusuf Shar, a junior from the Bognor club. Shar outboxed his opponent Josh Harrison with his sharp left jabs as he went forwards and backwards off his back leg.

Harrison came forward aggressively, but was caught repeatedly by Shar’s straight punches to win on a majority decision.

Bognor coaches Charlie Martin and Paul Mason said Rowles was under par, but Akhtar had such a big heart and battled throughout the contest and Shar outboxed his opponent throughout the contest.
