Brown cleared her opening height of 1.65m but her second-time clearance at 1.70 followed by the same at 1.73m meant she had to settle for the third spot.

The Colorado State women’s track and field team have now won three straight conference titles overall (2015 outdoor, 2016 indoor and 2016 outdoor)

Head coach Brian Bedard said: “We have a special group of ladies that never give up. They’re getting used to winning.

“We had some setbacks. We started off a little rough. San Diego State was extremely tough.

“The team hung in there and kept chipping away, kept getting points and cheering each other on and being competitive. I’m very proud of the way they fought.”

This marks the end of the 2016 season for Brown as an internship in Denver this summer will keep her away from the UK. Her final year as a senior at Colorado State University starts in August.
