Chichester netballers fight back to hold Brighton

It started shakily but they managed to keep within four points in every quarter. With a slight change around in attack at half-time, Aimee Tredant came on and made some fantastic turnovers alongside Elisha Hill.

The defence stayed strong as a unit, forcing many errors. At the back, Emma Shaw made many fantastic turnovers and was named player of the match.

It was a fantastic team performance and with support from the bench, Chichester pulled the score back to 37-37 in the last few seconds.

Chichester seconds had their game against Portsmouth firsts, which they knew would be tough. Regardless, they started all guns blazing and kept the score close throughout.

The shooting from Megan Kennell and Katie Saunders couldn’t be faulted. Down-court there was a great display of defending from Ellie Bullock, Camilla Jordan and Kate Green, with flying interceptions everywhere.

Chichester lost 49-44 despite the team’s brilliant effort.

The Chichester third team were away at Brunel and they went out on to court determined to win.

After the first quarter, Chichester were down by four goals, and at half-time the score remained close. However Brunel’s experience came out on top and going into the final quarter it was 26-16. The game got scrappy and ended 31-20 to Brunel.

Chichester can be proud of their performance and player of the match was Lauren Farley for her positive attitude and great skills.

Chichester’s fourths played an exceptional game away to Portsmouth fifths. They started superbly with great marking, interceptions and their shooting on point in the first quarter, but Portsmouth sussed out their tactics and the score was level at half-time.

Chichester ended up losing 38-17 but the team were the most cohesive they had been all semester.

The fifths had their toughest game of the season so far against Imperial College. They stayed in the game throughout but were edged out 35-32.

Player of the match was Georgia Marr onn her first game of the season – she made countless turnovers at GD and showed real determination. Shining in defence was Frankie Gallop, with an ability to keep the ball out of the circle.

The fifths are growing together as a team.
