Chichester's juniors go across county for cross-country success

Chichester's juniors have been busy in the schools' cross-country programme.

The top runners in Sussex’s Years 7 and 8 championships at Christ’s Hospital School have gone on to represent Sussex in the south east inter counties event, held this year at Bexhill.

The best results from the Sussex championships were in the Year 7 boys’ race with Josh Eeles from Midhurst Rother a fine winner and Brodie Keates from Felpham in the bronze medal position.

The two finished 26th and 27th in the inter counties in a closely-fought race.

In the girls’ Year 7 race Maddie Smith from Chichester High school was the best local athlete, which resulted in a 77th place at Bexhill.

In the two Year 8 races Saskia Gardam from Bishop Luffa was best placed in fourth in the Sussex event with team-mate Molly Whatmore in 13th, the two runners leading Bishop Luffa to a bronze team position.

Gardam went on the produce the best run from any local athlete with a fine 19th in the inter counties.

Bishop Luffa duo Zac Hurst and Tom Ellis did well to cross the line in 17th and 30th at Christ’s Hospital.
