Cricket: Three in a row for Selsey ladies

SELSEY Ladies went into their match against Chichester Ladies off the back of two wins from two and made it three from three.

Priory won the toss and elected to field. Selsey’s batswomen were strong throughout the order (G Halford 19, M Ackhurst 18, E Bain 21, P Baker 21no) and set a target of 100 for Priory to chase.

Emma Bain opened the bowling for Selsey with a maiden for the second consecutive week, also taking a wicket.

Captain Gemma Halford led from the front, taking three wickets for only five runs. Lucy Crawley bowled well, also taking a wicket, and ran out Priory captain D Peake with an accurate throw from the field.

Pamela Baker caught a long throw from Halford to run out another Chichester batter.

It was a commanding performance from Selsey, who bowled out Priory Park in the seventh over for only 12.

Selsey players voted Priory youngster R Briggs their player of the match after excellent bowling and a confident display behind the stumps.
