Sporty Wittering school pupils earn a gold mark

West Wittering Primary School have been awarded a gold Sainsbury School Games award in recognition of the quality of their PE provision.

The award is based on the sporting opportunities for all key stage two pupils. It also takes into account the involvement of pupils in the planning, leading and officiating of sport.

Over the past year West Wittering have expanded the range of sports and the number of competitions the children are exposed to, as well as involving the children more in planning, officiating and reporting.

The school have also improved links with local sports clubs and the improvements meant the school turned last year’s silver into gold.

Sport events for 2014-15 included netball, hockey, sportshall athletics, judo, triathlon, swimming, cross-country running, the Chichester Corporate Challenge, quadkids athletics, fencing, cricket, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and surfing.
