Officials are hoping to greet more than 7,000 people for a day of racing and other festive fun on Boxing Day.

This is the fifth year since the December 26 meeting was revived at the racecourse and although the first one was frozen off, the four Boxing Day meetings have held since have been a great success.

Last year’s fixture, in bright sunshine, was arguably the best yet – and Fontwell bosses hope to emulate that this time.

Fontwell Park executive director Simon Williams said: “Boxing Day racing at Fontwell Park racecourse is our busiest race meeting of the year, attracting crowds of more than 7,000 racegoers.

“Tickets sales have been strong over the past few weeks. There are only a limited number of premier admission tickets remaining and we have also sold out in our Premier restaurant and Tecom Lounge, with limited availability in our Paddock Restaurant.

“If you are new to racing, we encourage you to celebrate a Sussex tradition with friends and family this festive period and enjoy an afternoon of exciting jumps racing at Fontwell Park.”

Along with seven races – the first of which is off at 12.20pm – the big screen facing the stands will show the day’s race from Kempton Park, the King George VI.

There will be a wide range of children’s entertainment including fun fair rides, face painters and a kids’ club zone – and as usual, children get into the venue free.

Free parking will be available in the centre of the racecourse for this fixture only. It’s also free in the main car park.

Come and experience the excitement of jump racing with a range of food and bar outlets, betting facilities and fantastic hospitality options.
