Academy sports teams in fine form

The Year 10 netball team were impressive in convincingly beating local rivals Felpham B.

Outstanding performances from Daisy Oxford and Emily Short set the tone for the rest of the team, who moved the ball fast in attack and were clinical in the final third.

The girls lost to Bishop Luffa in their second game, but can hold their heads high knowing they gave it their all.

OSVA’s under-13 football team continued their good form, beating Bourne Community College 3-2. OSVA were the stronger team throughout, showing excellent strength and composure. Goals came from Joe Allan, Liam Brady and Kieran Saunders.

The central-defensive pair of Jack Trodd and Curtis Turner shared the man-of-the-match award. Goalkeeper Kray Turner shone, making a crucial save in the last five minutes.

The OSVA cross-country team took a trip to Bishop Luffa hoping to repeat their excellent performance from last year. The team consisted of Molly Parsons, Leah Wilson, Rhys Saunders, Jacob Mouland-French, Jack Lorimer, Aidan Baker, Alex Folk and Luke Beckinsale.

They did themselves proud, showing excellent stamina, determination and ability. Stand-out individual performances came from Wilson, who finished second in the junior girls’ race, and Jack Lorimer, who finished in the top ten of the junior boys’ race.
