ALBION dropped down to sixth in the Championship table following their 2-0 defeat at Rotherham on Tuesday.

That defeat stretched their winless league run to eight matches and the unbeaten run seems a distant memory now.

But if Seagulls’ fans were offered sixth spot in mid-January what would the reaction have been?

A good barometer of how a side have fared with regard to pre season expectations is our Handicap and Albion (+14) are actually second favourites at 5/2 behind Boro (+2) on the handicap where Derby County (now 33/1) were the only side on scratch.

Albion are at Ewood Park this weekend to take on a Blackburn Rovers side who themselves are struggling for form having picked up just two points from the last fifteen available.

The Seagulls are 2/1 to pick up maximum points with Rovers 8/5 and the draw at 9/4.

Albion have drifted to 50/1 at BetVictor for the title, 7/2 for promotion but are still odds on at 1/2 to end the campaign with a top six finish and a minimum of a play-off spot.

Chris Hughton’s side need a change of fortune but 2/1 does seem too big given their defeat in south Yorkshire was their first on the road in the Championship this season.

A 1-0 win for Albion is priced at 7/1 with BetVictor and that might be a shade too big; you would not expect to see a goal-fest at Ewood Park and under 1.5 goals is just 9/5 but Albion need to get back to winning ways and if they have to win ugly so be it.

Jordan Rhodes is the 19/4 favourite to score the opening goal with James Wilson at seven and Bobby Zamora, a late substitute midweek, eight the same price as Tomer Hemed.
