Andersen sorry it had to end like that at Pompey

Mikkel Andersen spoke of his pain at a sad Pompey swansong ending in defeat.

The keeper made the last appearance of his loan spell in last night’s 3-2 loss to Leyton Orient.

Andersen will return to Reading today as part of the terms of his 93-day emergency loan.

The Danish talent admitted it was hard to accept that a seventh Blues loss on the bounce would be the final game of his stay at the club.

Andersen said: ‘You come here, see the fans and the fact they are amazing and you want to give something back.

‘I’m very frustrated that we haven’t been able to do that for them in the past few games.

‘We have some good players so it’s frustrating that we haven’t been able to get some results.

‘I wanted to do that so it hurts that I haven’t been able to do that.

‘We have to honest and say the first half wasn’t good enough.

‘We had a go second half and were almost a different team.

‘There was nothing to lose and that was part of the reason we let loose and gave it a go. It just wasn’t enough.’

Andersen was given a brief glimpse of Ricardo Rocha’s quality as he came on as a first-half sub for Gabor Gyepes last night.

He has no doubt Rocha will prove an asset.

Andersen said: ‘I’ve only met him briefly but he’s a top man. I can see why the fans love him.

‘He has the experience and knows where to be on pitch.

‘He pulls people up and that’s what is needed at the moment.’
