Bognor add Pompey prospect and two more to squad ahead of Isthmian opener

The Rocks have secured young Pompey hotshot Alfie Stanley on loan as they prepare for their opening league game of the new Pitching In Isthmian premier division season at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.

And Nye Camp boss Jack Pearce has also added attacker Jordy Mongoy and midfielder Will Stone to his squad. Stone, a former Bognor youth player, impressed in pre-season matches following a return to the UK from a spell in America.

Stanley is highly regarded at Pompey, who feel his development will be boosted by time playing men's football with the Rocks.

Bognor said they were delighted to land a player who enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal for Pompey Academy last term. He hit 26 goals in all competitions before Covid-19 outbreak.

Mongoy has enjoyed stints with Hastings United and Lewes and was previously at Dagenham & Redbridge as well as Billericay. He bagged a goal in his debut in the 4-2 win at Chichester City. Stone has also found the net in warm-up games against Horndean, East Preston and the Oaklands Park outfit.

Pearce, with coach Robbie Blake alongside him, feels the squad has come together and is looking forward to the opener.

He said: “Both Jordy and Will have done well from what we have seen and we’re delighted they have both agreed to put pen to paper. The big test comes on Saturday now at Bishop’s Stortford and we go there in good spirits and hopeful we can get off to decent start to the campaign.”
