Bosham old boys turn back the football clock

The scene was set for a battle of veterans hosted by Bosham Football Club, with proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The game was terrific to watch with the veteran players strutting their stuff and showing they still have the quality.

The Blues, represented in part by some Bosham old boys, including Graeme Cooper and David Barnes, looked the more efficient as the game cracked on and Lloyd Fowle drew a clumsy tackle to earn a penalty for the Stags which was converted to give them a deserved lead.

The Aston Bogeys huffed and puffed but a cracker from Fowler in the second half meant they had a mountain to climb and they were duly caught on the break late on to cement a 3-0 win for the over-40s Stags Head team.

Much merriment was had in the bar after the game and thanks to the hard work of the Bosham staff, the landlord of the Stags Head, who provided a barrel of bitter, and the generous pockets of all, a grand total of £120 was raised.
