Chichester ladies teams get new bosses

Liam Greenfield will step up to boss the first XI while Richard (Dick) Semark will run the second string following the decision of Matt Wright and Caroline Henry-Evans to step down from the respective roles.

After Wright and Evans had run the first and development teams for seven years, the club were always going to find it tough to appoint new managers, but they say they are delighted to have ‘appointed from within’ and are confident the new duo will carry on the good work.

The club’s aim to allow players a full opporunity to come through the ranks and push for first-team experience is reflected in the new appointments.

Greenfield was the natural successor to Wright having spent the past two seasons working with the first team and he has been now revealed his new backroom staff.

Once Greenfield had taken on the role he was quick to put his own stamp on the coaching set-up and club stalwart Clive Stubbs will work directly with Greenfield to oversee the first team as assistant manager.

Semark steps up from his role as scout to take on management of the development squad.

Rhys Griffiths will remain as the coach and assistant to Semark to maintain stability in the club.

Departing first-team manager Wright said: “Dick is an extremely-experienced manager who will certainly bring stability and structure to the development squad. He successfully managed Havant ladies for many seasons and has years of experience in the female game.”

Alongside the four matchday coaches, Greenfield has introduced Will Boutwood as strength and conditioning coach, Paul Dowdell as goalkeeper coach, Matt Hubbard for matchday analysis, Lauren Attree as a sports therapist and Richard Driscoll as a coach who will be working across both squads at training sessions.

Greenfield said: “It’s an exciting time at the club – we have all the right people in place for a great season. At Chichester we always want to maintain a professional atmosphere and with the staff we have in place now that will certainly be the case.”

With pre-season due to start next week, the appointments Greenfield has made are all well aware of the challenge ahead and he said: “I couldn’t be happier with the people we have brought in.”
